The partners of the StR-ESFRI (Support to Reinforce ESFRI) Project are very pleased to announce the launch of the EU funded (H2020 Grant Agreement 823711) StR-ESFRI2 Project. On 28-29th March and on the occasion of the 68th ESFRI Forum Meeting, StR-ESFRI2 partners met in Liblice for the project’s official kick-off meeting which was hosted by the Czech Academy of Sciences in Liblice Castle, Prague.
Following a successful 4-year period for StR-ESFRI, the upcoming Coordination and Support Action project led by UK Research and Innovation (STFC-UKRI, UK), in partnership with Universita degli Studi di Milano (Italy), "Athena" Research and Innovation Centre (Greece), the Czech Academy of Sciences (Czech Republic) and German Aerospace Center (DLR, Germany) will continue to provide support to reinforce ESFRI under the guidance of its Chair, by providing additional resources, tools and expertise for performing its activities and supporting its structures.
Building on the experience and knowledge developed in StR-ESRFI, StR-ESFRI2 will support different aspects of ESFRI’s activities such as the work of ESFRI Chair, the development, and publishing of the next ESFRI Roadmap Updates, the effective review and monitoring of research infrastructures on the ESFRI Roadmap through appropriate analytical tools. The project will develop and implement ESFRI’s communication strategy to enhance its outreach, foster co-operation between ESFRI and e-Infrastructures, and will facilitate the exchange of experience and good practices among research infrastructures, their managers and other stakeholders.
Thirteen representatives of the five partners participated in the meeting and discussed the work plan and timetable that will form the basis of the work to be taken up. In this first meeting, Workpackages were defined, a detailed framework of activities and tasks was outlined and partners agreed on common goals and results. Jan Hrusak, ESFRI Chair, participated in the project’s kick off and his contributions to discussions have set the right tone for a fruitful and productive 3 years ahead.
