John Womersley talks about the new ESFRI Roadmap 2016
On the occasion of the ESFRI Roadmap 2016 launch event which took place in Amsterdam at the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts & Sciences (10.03.2016), John Womersley, ESFRI Chair, was interviewed on the new Roadmap on Research Infrastructures in Europe. Observing that "ESFRI has worked very hard and the new Roadmap is the result of a tough, transparent and open process that started 18 months ago", he stressed its strategic role in fostering Europe's economic competitiveness in an increasingly globalized knowledge-based economy as well as the importance of Pan-European collaboration.
The selection procedure and assessment for the projects on the new Roadmap 2016 has been the focus of his interview. John Womersley points out to the fact that ESFRI is setting the barrier high: "Pan-European collaboration in science is very hard to achieve without the support of governments and eventually the funders. ESFRI has helped new projects to interact with governements and it is very important that the conversation continues".
The video-interviews were filmed during the official launch of the Roadmap 2016 in Amsterdam. A full archive of all video-interviews related to the new Roadmap will be available online soon.
