65th ESFRI Forum Meeting

The 65th ESFRI Forum Meeting will be held from the 27th to the 29th of June 2018 in Corfu, Greece. The 65th plenary meeting of ESFRI will be hosted in the church of St. George on the emblematic Old Fortress of Corfu.  Τhe EB and other parallel meetings will take place in the Corfu Museum of Asian Art.

The Old Fortress of Corfu The Old Fortress of Corfu is one of the most impressive fortification works in Europe. It stands on the eastern side of the town, on a rocky peninsula that gets into the sea. This fortress was constructed by the Venetians in the 15th century on the site of a former Byzantine castle. On a flat square of the Fortress sits the church of Saint George, built by the Venetians in the form of an ancient temple. This is actually the only Christian church in Greece that has been constructed according to the Doric style.

The Corfu Museum of Asian Art is hosted in the Palace of St. Michael and St. George. The only of its kind in Greece, the Museum is solely dedicated to the art and antiquities of the Far East and India. The museum was founded in 1928 and today it enjoys worldwide recognition, with rare items from its collections being presented in international exhibitions. The ESFRI Executive Board will meet at the Ionian Senate Meeting Hall.
