Fabio Mazzolini (1961) is doctor in Mechanical Engineering (University of Trieste) with a thesis on Computational Fluid Dynamics. Employed by Elettra - Sincrotrone Trieste since 1989, he was involved in the development and implementation of Ultra High Vacuum technologies for particle accelerators, with a specific focus on the Non-Evaporable Getter coatings applications.
His professional interests have always been related to Research Infrastructures and their international relations.
From 1998 to 2010 he served in the International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique and Applications (IUVSTA) as Chairman of the Vacuum Science and Technology Division, Chairman of the Congress Planning Committee and as Italian Councilor in the Executive Council. Afterwards he was Assistant to the ESFRI Chairperson (2008-2010), National Expert in the Italian Delegation in ESFRI after 2010, later appointed by the Italian Ministry of University and Research as member of the EC ERIC Committee (2017) and Permanent Expert of the Italian delegation in ESFRI (2019). Since then, he has been member of the ESFRI Implementation Group.
